After watching Steve's keynote Back to the Mac it is quite clear where desktop software is heading and it is difficult to deny the supremacy of mobile app development these days. Small pieces of software running on the major mobile platforms have become household names that rival big game productions and huge desktop suites. Although everything about iOS seems to happen in California, I've met great independent developers and business services based in Europe. In one month, it is our time to gather and talk about apps right here, in London.
As you might have seen in that small banner on the blog, I'll attend the Apps World conference in Olympia, London from 30th November to 1st December. This will be a great opportunity to meet other bloggers, app developers, marketeers and even manufacturers and mobile operators that want be part of the app world.
The event organiser Six Degrees has recently announced that Rovio's CEO, Peter Vesterbacka will speak at the event, which should be a must-attend session for any app freak. I'm not missing the opportunity to meet the creator of Angry Birds at Apps World! Other sessions I'm really looking forward to attend are Spotify's Faisal Galaria and Shazam's Beatrice Farina. With the recent rumors of Apple negotiating the acquisition of Spotify, it promises to be a juicy one.
I'm also expecting to meet a lot of you who are attending the show. If you want to have a chat and show me what you're up to, send me an email or contact me via twitter @appfreak to schedule something. I'll also have some freebies with me for any reader that spots me and says hello.
Passes for the exhibition and Developer Zone are free while workshops still have an early booking discount. Are you in the UK and are going to miss Apps World? I really can't wait!
