How are you?

I love good iOS apps, baked beans and children that don't do their homework. This is my personal space where I comment on the latest App Store candy with all the detail you really don't need to know.

Keep tuned for reviews and videos of my favourite apps, thoughts about Apple fans, iPhone and iPad games and the occasional rambling about the app ecosystem. If you like what you're reading and don't mind some random posts, feel free to engage in a verbal battle (or just say hello) on Twitter.

Appvent Calendar - A free iPhone app for every day

Do you know those chocolate Advent calendars? Now blacksmith games is bringing the idea to the iPhone platform with something sweeter than chocolates. Oh yes, iPhone and iPod Touch apps. This initiative just started and developers that want to participate must apply to get into one of the 24 spots.

While finishing Plushed I got the idea to make an advent calendar with free games. It is called appvent calendar :-) Developers can apply for providing their game for free for one day. Then 24 games will be chosen.

Take a loot at the site: http://appventcalendar.com/

What do you think? Good for marketing efforts and the average iphone user? Can an initiative like this work in the so strict App Store?

Yes, I think that this is what customers want and I myself as one of those customers this is a way for me to use one of your apps free and also see your company. If I like your game don't you think I will look for more from you and also I can just search your company and find your apps. There is hundreds of thousands of apps to choose from and finding that different type of app can be challenging, but by doing this free giveaway you are creating a buzz about your company and your product. I have downloaded both and will continue to download all until it ends at Christmas. We appreciate this as consumers and users. Thank you so much to everyone doing this and Merry Christmas!

Absolutely, I've been against price drops and the $0.99c fashion, but this time I couldn't agree more. When prospective buyers are thinking of buying your app, they'll surely check what the developer has done with the price of the app in the past. There are so many ways to find that out. What I like most about appvent is that buyers get tow know the app, know that the dev engages with the dev community and that they give away their apps for reason. We have all seen quality apps reducing their prices drastically without a reason that is tangible or that the average peep can understand. We see pure greed.
